Revenue Litigation

A revenue litigation is a litigation that involves landed property mainly agricultural land. The land is measured by Kanals and Acres. Each acre is numbered and thus there are several numbers and sub numbers. For example 2//3/2(6-18). Some special signs are allotted to various terms.

Double hyphen in this example refers to an area of 25 acres, 3/2 refers to field number and 6-18 refers to area in Kanal and marla and as such whenever there is a dispute relating to nature of land I.e. whether it is agricultural or non agricultural, residential or a grazing ground, well or a canal, burial ground or a hadda Rori etc, such questions are dealt with as revenue matters. Similarly, at the time of partition of agricultural land, issues relating to its division are also dealt with as revenue matters.
